After leaving the “Original Starfires” in the late 1960’s, I was married to the former Linda (Guilford) Griffith, Dallas High School class of 1965. We had two sons: Roger, Jr. and Scott. As a result, we have two grandsons: Roger E. Griffith III, and Matthew Griffith. Linda and I are celebrating 50 years of marriage on November 6, 2015. I was employed by Power Engineering Corporation of Wilkes-Barre in the HVAC industry for twelve years after receiving an undergraduate associate degree in business & accounting from Lackawanna Jr. College. I was employed by Power Engineering as purchasing manager for 12 years. In 1976, I started my own business as co-founder and secretary-treasurer of R. J. Griffith Co., Inc. The next twenty years were spent on building the business which was based in Montrose, Pa.; where we raised our family until we liquidated in 1994. After liquidating the business, I pursed another undergraduate degree in Biblical and Pastoral Studies from Davis College in Johnson City, New York. Putting my two undergraduate degrees together, I was accepted into the Master of Divinity Program at Moravian Theological Seminary in Bethlehem, Pa. where I received a Masters of Divinity degree in 1997. I have been involved in pastoral ministry for twenty-five years having served numerous churches in the Presbyterian Church (USA) until being honorably retired in 2012. I continue to serve churches on a part time temporary capacity as well as having served the Back Mountain Food Pantry as President of the Board for the past ten years. I also serve as President of the Board of Directors for “Friends Of The Wintersteen Carousel Project with the ultimate goal of bringing the carousel once located at Hanson’s Amusement Park at Harvey’s Lake to The Lands At Hillside where the carousel can be enjoyed for generations to come.
